Hi, I’m Ann , your Orlando senior photographer.
Also known as: your unofficial weather correspondent.
Forecasting from the driveway with my coffee and a full dose of WESH 2 News’ Coffee Talk with Eric Burris at 8 a.m. daily.
And yes, I’m the girl glued to the GFS and Euro models during hurricane season.
Jim Cantore? He’s not just a meteorologist. He’s a lifestyle.
(If he shows up in your town, you know it’s about to get real. Respect to the Weather Channel OG.)
First of all… welcome to Florida, where “chance of rain” basically means “yes, probably, but maybe not where you are.”
This is the land of afternoon seabreeze collision storms, pop-up downpours, and tropical chaos that’s giving the most.
But here’s the good news, just because it rains doesn’t mean your session is ruined.
Florida’s “Rainy Season” usually runs from May through October. We often get quick, intense afternoon storms, especially around 3-6 P.M.
They’re usually gusty and dramatic and then completely gone within 20–30 minutes.
Rarely do we get full “washout” days (and if we do, I’m not making you wait in anxiety all day, we’ll reschedule early.)
If the forecast looks like an all-day soaker, I’ll make the call early and we’ll move it. No panic texts.
If it’s a typical summer afternoon pop-up storm, we monitor radar (yes, I’m watching.)
I usually don’t reschedule until a few hours before the shoot because the weather flips faster than a toddler’s mood.
Golden Hour Field: If it just rained? I’m gonna be real, I’m not about to wade through wet grass. Walking through a field of soaked, dewy grass is my personal ick and I’m sure yours too. So we reschedule. Period.
Downtown or Urban Location: Drizzle doesn’t scare me. These spots often have overhangs or textured backdrops that still work great, and reflective sidewalks? Hello, editorial moment.
Beach: Let’s go. Rain doesn’t scare the ocean. The wet sand is a non-issue, and moody skies are chef’s kiss for drama. Some of my favorite beach photos were taken right after a little storm rolled through.
Can we talk about clouds for a second?
Because listen, sunshine is cute, but a cloudy day is every photographer’s dream. That soft, even light?
It’s like the sky handed us a giant natural softbox. No harsh shadows, no squinting, no blown-out highlights on your face. It’s flattering, glowy, and honestly underrated.
So don’t stress if it’s cloudy on your session day. She’s the vibe.
Let me be clear…
We do not play when it comes to lightning or unsafe conditions.
Tropical vibes are cute. Hurricanes and tornadoes? Absolutely not.
If there’s thunder, wind advisories, or lightning in the area we wait it out in safety or reschedule.
Period. Your safety (and mine) comes first. Always.
No, wee don’t panic over the forecast.
We monitor, we adapt, and we bring the good energy no matter what the sky is doing.
Because in Florida, the only thing more dramatic than the weather is me, hyping you up while the clouds roll in.
Let’s book your senior session and don’t worry, I’ll bring the radar, the backup plan, and maybe even the umbrella (clear and cute, of course).
Or come stalk my favorite weather-friendly photo spots right over here.
