How to Prepare for Senior Photos

What to Wear for your Session

Why I believe in Prints

So, you’re about to get glammed up and step in front of the camera for your senior photoshoot, exciting, right? But also… a little nerve-wracking?

Don’t worry, I got you.

Here are 5 tips on how to prepare for your senior photos and help you feel confident, relaxed, and ready to rock your shoot!

1. Plan Your Outfits (But Don’t Stress Over It)

Okay, first thing’s first: outfit ideas for senior photos. Yes, they matter. But also… don’t stress! The key is to wear something that makes you feel like you. Whether it’s that perfect little black dress or your fave comfy sweater, you’ve got options! I suggest picking a few outfits that show off different sides of you: something dressy, something casual, and maybe something a little fun or quirky. Oh, and make sure to iron (or steam!) them, because wrinkles are never cute. And trust me, we want you to look effortlessly chic.

2. Fake It ‘Til You Make It (With Fake Tanner, That Is)

We all know a good tan can make you feel like a million bucks. But listen, you’re already perfect just the way you are! You don’t need a tan to slay your senior photos, trust me, your natural beauty is what’s going to shine through. That being said, if you’re in the mood for a little glow-up, I’m 100% on board! A light, even tan can give you that sun-kissed look without the oompa-loompa vibes. Just remember: blend, blend, blend. Apply a day or two before your shoot and don’t forget to exfoliate to avoid any streaks. You’ll look fab, with or without the glow! And if you do decide to go for the fake tan, let’s keep it subtle because, let’s be honest, no one wants to look like a human Cheeto in their photos.

3. Channel Your Inner Model (But Keep It Real)

Okay, this one’s for the camera shyness. You might be nervous about posing, but guess what? I’ve got you! I’ll guide you through it every step of the way, so you don’t have to worry about being a professional model (because who is, really?). Just think of it like this: Every pose is an opportunity to show off your unique personality. Want to jump, twirl, or throw a casual “hey, I’m too cool for this” look? DO IT. You’re going to have fun, I promise. It’s not about awkward poses—it’s about YOU being YOU.

4. Get Ready for Some Serious “Wow” Moments

Expect some magic! There will be those moments where you’re like, “Wait, did I just slay that?” Yes, yes you did. Embrace the “wow” moments and trust me, your future self will thank you when you see the photos. And if you’re unsure about something, don’t be afraid to ask! Want a photo with a super dramatic pose or something a little more relaxed? I got your back, just let me know what vibe you’re feeling.

5. Relax, Have Fun, and Be YOU

This one’s the most important tip: Have fun! I know, I know—easier said than done. But the more relaxed and comfortable you are, the better your senior portraits will turn out. You are amazing, unique, and exactly who you’re supposed to be. And guess what? That’s what I want to capture. No pressure to be anything other than your fabulous self. So, take a deep breath, smile big, and let’s make some memories!

Bonus Tip: Bring Your Bestie!

Not to be cheesy, but seriously, bring your bestie! Whether it’s for moral support or to help you pick out outfits, having someone there can take the edge off. Plus, they’ll make you laugh—which, let’s be honest, always makes for the best photos.

I hope these tips have shown you how to prepare for your senior photos! As an Orlando senior photographer, I specialize in capturing stunning, unique portraits that celebrate who you are. Whether you’re from Winter Garden, Windermere, Celebration, Lake Nona, or beyond, I’m here to make your session unforgettable.
